BIMSTEC stands for the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation. It is an international organization that brings together seven countries in the Bay of Bengal region to promote regional cooperation and integration. The member countries of BIMSTEC are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. The main objective of BIMSTEC is to foster economic cooperation among its member states and promote sustainable development in the region. The organization focuses on several key areas of cooperation, including trade and investment, transport and communication, energy, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, public health, poverty alleviation, and counter-terrorism.
