World Trade Organization

WTO stands for the World Trade Organization. It is an international organization that deals with the global rules of trade between nations. Established on January 1, 1995, the WTO is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The key objectives of the WTO are: 1. Promoting Free and Fair Trade: The WTO seeks to promote the liberalization of international trade by reducing barriers to trade, such as tariffs, quotas, and discriminatory measures. It aims to create a level playing field for all member countries, facilitating the smooth flow of goods, services, and intellectual property across borders. 2. Enforcing Trade Rules: The WTO provides a framework for member countries to negotiate and enforce trade agreements. It administers and monitors the implementation of these agreements, including the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and other trade-related agreements.
