However, it's important to note that the specific structure and functions of a Planning Commission can vary significantly between countries. Historically, the Planning Commission in India was a notable example. It was a government body established in 1950 that played a central role in the country's economic planning and policy formulation. The Indian Planning Commission was responsible for formulating five-year plans, which outlined the goals and strategies for the country's economic development.
