Urban Development Schemes Govt Of India

The Government of India has introduced several schemes and initiatives to promote urban development and improve the infrastructure and quality of life in urban areas.  Some prominent urban development schemes implemented by the government:

1. Smart Cities Mission: Aims to develop 100 selected cities as smart cities by leveraging technology and innovation to enhance urban infrastructure, services, and overall livability.

6. Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY): Focuses on the development of heritage cities, preserving and revitalizing their unique cultural and historical assets.

7. National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM): Works towards poverty alleviation by providing skill development, employment, and self-employment opportunities to the urban poor.

8. Urban Rejuvenation Mission: Focuses on improving infrastructure, governance, and services in small and medium towns, promoting sustainable urban growth.

9. Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi): Aims to provide working capital loans to street vendors, enabling them to resume their businesses and improve livelihoods.

10. Urban Green Mobility Scheme: Promotes sustainable and environment-friendly transportation systems in urban areas, including non-motorized transport infrastructure and electric mobility.

11. Swachh Survekshan: Conducts annual cleanliness surveys to assess and rank cities based on their cleanliness and sanitation efforts, encouraging healthy competition among cities.

12. Smart Cities Digital Payments Awards: Encourages digital payment adoption in smart cities, promoting a cashless economy and convenient transaction modes.

These are some of the significant urban development schemes implemented by the Government of India. The focus is on infrastructure development, service delivery improvement, and creating sustainable and inclusive urban environments that enhance the quality of life for urban residents.
